We have two types of large format printers in the printing industry, a flatbed printer and a roll-to-roll printer. In a flatbed printer, the substrate will be placed on the bed/surface which is the carrier for the material to pass through the printer. During printing, the UV light hits the liquid ink and turns it into solid ink. It is a great option for clients looking to print on thicker or modern substrates. A roll-to-roll printer, on the other hand would print on banners, canvas or other flexible printing substrates that are available in roll formats. A roll is loaded on one side and carried through the printer and after printing would be rolled in again on the other side. It is a printer ideal for long run ideal printing, as processes are faster, more streamlined and there is less interruption.
